POST NATAL MIDWIFE
As part of the pregnancy and post birth care, Dr Musa offers Midwifery home visiting service. One complementary home visit will be included in your maternity package. If however you do not live within the catchment area for the home visit , you are still entitled to a complementary visit in our office. Any additional visits can be arranged with midwife directly.
We recognise the challenges faced by families with the birth of a new baby and as a part of our maternity package we offer support in your own home with this transition. Our qualified midwife will contact you after the birth of your baby to arrange a convenient time to conduct your home visits.
Shelley is the principal midwife and has over 10 years experience , working in community settings as well as at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital . She has experience across all areas of midwifery including antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
Shelley has also received endorsement from AHPRA as an Eligible midwife, entitling her to a provider number, enabling Medicare rebates for all midwifery services that she provides. Shelley has joined our team to provide you with the much needed support upon your return home, all in the comfort of your own home.
Services included at visit are:
- Breast feeding advice and support
- Artificial feeding support
- Postnatal check of mother
- Newborn well being checks -including weighing and measuring
- Advice on newborn behaviours and settling techniques
- Support with emotional health- PND
- General parenting information
- Assistance with referrals if needed- alternative therapies, child health.
You will also be provided with a comprehensive postnatal information pack, as your own referral source. Dr Musa’s patients can benefit from physiotherapy both during your pregnancy and after the arrival of your newborn.’ There is one complementary postnatal physiotherapy visit as part of the pregnancy package.
Pregnancy is a time during which women can experience many changes in their bodies, and some physical TLC is often needed for mum. That’s where Melissa can assist. She is the principal Physiotherapist of The Womens Practice, and has dedicated herself to women’s health. Melissa’s specialty is to identify non-invasive solutions to many common, yet frustrating symptoms and aliments that can occur with Women of all ages.
Melissa, as a mother of four herself, understands the different needs of women both pre and post pregnancy.
Melissa can provide assistance in the following areas:
- Pelvic Floor strengthening and repair
- Pregnancy related Pelvic Pain
- Pregnancy related back pain
- Post surgical scarring and pain (Caesarean, Episiotomy)
- Post-natal Pelvic pain, coccyx pain
- Post-natal back pain
- Post natal rectus diastasis
- Post- natal thoracic and neck pain
And many other Women’s health issues.
Melissa has a Bachelor of physiotherapy from the University of Queensland and a post Graduate certificate in Pelvic Floor and Continence from the University of Melbourne. Prior to this, she completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science at Griffith University.
Before opening The Women’s Practice, Melissa was the senior contracting Physiotherapist at Mater Mothers Hospital Redlands and Mater Mothers Hospital South Brisbane.
